Confirmation of 2 additional COVID-19 Related Deaths

Mayor Carolyn Blackman and the Town of Dover Health Department jointly announce the unfortunate confirmation of the death of two (2) more additional Dover residents as a result of COVID-19. 

 

Mayor Blackman stated, “It is with a very heavy heart that we, as a community, have now loss  eleven (11) members of our community in this world-wide pandemic.  The Board of Aldermen and I extend our hearts and our hands to the surviving families, friends, and other loved ones who are suffering due to their loss; I offer them my support, thoughts and prayers and wish them peace as they cope with this tragedy.  I ask the family to contact my administration via the COVID-19 Hotline at 862-210-4036 if we can offer any assistance.

 

I cannot stress enough that everyone is susceptible to COVID-19.  The tragic death of these individuals demonstrate the critical importance and understanding how impactful COVID-19 is to each of us.”

 

Now, more than ever, as the number of our confirmed positive cases continue to increase and our death toll is rising, I implore everyone in our community to follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines and Governor Murphy’s Executive Orders for our collective safety:

 

  • Stay home
  • Maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet
  • Wash hands frequently for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Sneeze or cough into your elbow or a tissue, which you then throw out
  • Disinfect frequently used and touched surfaces

 

If you are sick:

  • Stay home; Do not go to work
  • Isolate yourself from others
  • Call a healthcare professional if you have symptoms and follow instructions

 

If your children are sick:

  • Stay home
  • Contact your medical provider and follow instructions

 

Until a vaccine is developed, these are the best tools available to reduce the spread of infection.   Blackman also recommends wearing a mask when leaving the home to conduct essential business, such as obtaining food or seeking medical care.

 

Blackman continued, “On behalf of the Board of Aldermen and the entire administration, I want to thank everyone who is staying put and venturing out only for essential business.  I also want to thank our business owners who have been diligently enforcing the Governor’s Orders and CDC guidelines. ”

 

“It is imperative that we all remain calm, informed, and united during these challenging times.  While I cannot physically embrace you, I embrace you nonetheless, with my caring, support, and prayers as together we navigate the troubled, uncharted waters of this pandemic. 

 

While there is no doubt this crisis will have a long-lasting impact on the culture of our nation, I am confident that ultimately as a nation, state, and town, we will prevail and make necessary changes to our lifestyles and preparedness to limit future outbreaks; however, at least some of that begins now.  Please stay safe by staying home.”
