Final Mayor’s Message Update / Hurricane Sandy & Halloween (Reverse 911)

Release Date: November 15, 2012

This is an important message from Mayor James P. Dodd. I want to express my sincere thanks to all the residents of our community for your patience, understanding, and perseverance in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. JCP&L has informed us that while some residents may experience intermittent electrical issues, low voltage or brown outs, all power has been restored to our residents that had their electrical service interrupted. I am extremely proud of how everyone handled the situation and dealt with the challenges presented to you by the storm. It is a testament to the resiliency of the citizens of Dover.

Finally, the conditions in our community following Hurricane Sandy forced us to postpone Halloween due to our concerns for the safety of our children of the community resulting from the lack of electricity and downed power lines. We felt that erring on the side of caution in this instance was the prudent course of action. Now that conditions have improved where this activity can be held more safely, the Town will observe Halloween on Saturday, November Seventeenth, and I would encourage you to participate if you are able. I am sure that the children and parents of our community will appreciate anything that is done within our respective neighborhoods to maintain this traditional event. I remain honored and humbled to serve as your Mayor, particularly during difficult times such as these. Thank you.
