Power Outage Repair Update - South Dover
Release Date: July 19, 2010

JCP&L experienced an equipment problem at the Morris substation in Dover on July 6, 2010 that required the substation to be taken out of service to safely make emergency repairs. The work involved the installation of a mobile substation to restore service to customers while additional repairs were taking place– a JCP&L contingency for such events.

Installing a mobile substation is a labor intensive project. JCP&L worked around the clock to complete the installation and make repairs.
JCP&L also worked with the Morris County Office of Emergency Management, and the municipalities of Dover, Randolph and Victory Gardens to keep them informed. The company also provided ice and water to customers.
The outage affected approximately 2,000 customers in Dover and the eastern portion of Randolph. Restoration efforts were completed at approximately 7:30 PM. On July 7, 2010
In addition to repairing equipment at the substation, JCP&L is also taking steps to provide additional contingency measures in the event of any future outages. These efforts include engineering and installing additional equipment to help minimize customer inconvenience.
