ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING CHAPTER 239 OF THE CODE OF THE TOWN OF DOVER, NEW JERSEY ENTITLED "MOTORIZED SCOOTERS"

 

 

§239-1. Motorized Scooter Defined:

A device propelled by a power motor, which consists of a footboard between end wheels and is controlled by an upright steering handle attached to a front wheel.

 

§239-2. Prohibition:

It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motorized scooter, as defined herein, on any public roadways and/or sidewalks located in the Town of Dover. It shall also be unlawful to operate a motorized scooter on any public lands within the Town of Dover, including any public parks and the lands owned by the Dover Board of Education.

§239-3. Violations and Penalties:

All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances inconsistent with this Ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistencies.

 

SECTION III

If any article, section, subsection, paragraph, phrase or sentence hereof is, for any reason, held to be unconstitutional or invalid, said article, section, subsection, paragraph, phrase or sentence shall be deemed severable.

Any person who violates the provisions of Section 239-2 of this Chapter shall be subject to a fine of a minimum of $25 and a maximum of $100 for each such offense. In the event that the violator is a minor, the parent or legal guardian of the violator is subject to such fines and penalties.

 

 

SECTION II

 

This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon final publication as provided by law.
